The Small Dogs Come

I’ve been quiet this autumn because
I’ve been in a 12-week writing workshop,
a 10-week study in the Gospel of John,
busy with refugees
and mainly because
there’s been just
too much noise in the world
too many people expressing
too many opinions
and every time I thought to say something
I decided the best thing I could contribute
was silence.

But I do wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I have been awash in small dogs this week,
all well-mannered and playful.
One is ours,
the other two are visiting.
