Have My Tracks Been Erased by What’s Happened?

morning tracks in snow

TRACKS
across fresh snow
on the back porch
beg to be captured,
I don’t know why,
the same way
I don’t know why
I had to write down
somewhere
all that happened,
just so it’s there
someplace,
the view from my window.

But they’ve caught my attention,
made me wonder.

Have the tracks I was leaving
been erased by what’s happened?
The answer, I think,
lies in my response,
the steps still to come.
It’s all one long story,
the story of a life.

I think I’ll get dressed and go to church and see my people,
the people with the long view.

  3. Yes…these words…these are the ones I’ll copy down and tack to the top of my laptop this week to return to again and again in wonder and hope: “the steps still to come./It’s all one long story,/the story of a life.” Because His mercy is new every morning and a life is built breath by breath, beat by beat, step by step, moments strung together leading us Home. ❤

I love the photo and the fact that you have captured the steps to this point. Waiting to read the rest of the story as it unfolds! 🙂
