NaNoWriMo and Bedhead

I WAKE AT 4,
when he gets up to take a pill,
and reach up
and smooth my hair
just so,
then set my head back down
on the pillow
to “iron” it
so that when I get up
a 5:30
I can go type
without the distraction of bedhead.
It rarely works.

I type anyway, bedhead and all.

November is National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo encourages people to write with wild abandon the whole month, to aim for 50,000 words, to stop saying “Someday I’m going to write….” and to do it! It’s an annual craziness I enjoy. I am not writing a novel. I have two collections going here and every day I plug away at either one or the other.
