Seeing Eye Puppy

ON CHRISTMAS MORNING, in a church far from home, surrounded by strangers (except for the two people I came with), being introduced to one person after another, shaking hands and happy to be there, happy the weather cooperated – skies blue and even the ever-present wind in that highest city in Pennsylvania had taken a vacation day…

I encounter ANGELA, a 4-month-old Seeing Eye puppy, who, it turns out, does not mind one bit having her head petted the better part of an hour. Nor having her picture taken.

And then later comes CAYENNE, wearing reindeer antlers and wanting to frolic. And to think if I’d stayed home in my recliner I’d have missed it.

Amazing, the many delights that lie on our path, if only we step onto it.
