I Keep a Date

Some Mondays, I expand on entries in my Gratitude Journal.
#2150. Pushing aside excuses.

I KEEP a COFFEE DATE.

When the day arrives and I think,
“Oh, I can’t possibly.
I’ll need to change my clothes,
fix my bedhead
and put on some mascara, at the very least,”
I stop myself,
realize none of that is true,
and simply go.
Small victory.

And I had a great time.

Why was it everything about me seemed so wrong that it all had to be fixed before I was presentable and acceptable?

I go. And my first story I tell when I arrive is about this tiny victory, pushing past the hurdles that went up.

On Mondays,
I share snippets
from recent entries
in my Gratitude Journal:
