After the Wind & Rain

A summer day
turns dark
and winds
from out of calm
surprise us.

We stand
as though we’d never seen rain before
and watch
the russian sage
bow low.

Next morning
the cornfield
has its story to tell,
a story of randomness
and survivors.

These are all observations.
