When the Pieces Don’t Match

On Mondays, I share snippets from recent entries in my Gratitude Journal:

#1865. Inspiration in mismatched pieces.

At Niagara-on-the-Lake
I spot
in a shoppe
a dish
that matches nothing I own
and I circle back to have another look, twice.

Twenty minutes later
I’m back on the road,
pleased as punch,
studying my loonies and toonies,
change received
for the box of assorted fresh fudge
tucked away in the back of the car
where I can’t reach
wrapped tight in paper,
the dish that matches nothing I own.

I have turned into a collector
of dishes that don’t match
and the thing that ties them all together
is that when I see them
I’m inspired to put something wonderful in or on.

They are like the pieces of one’s story
that seem
too random
too conflicting
too much making no sense
for sure
there IS a connecting thread
waiting to be discovered.

I value inspiration
Don’t you? 🙂

One blog inspires another. Inspiration for this post goes to Joy the Baker and the dish in which she served up her Strawberry-Pineapple Crumble. Go see it!
