dirt
is washed off
the cooler
taken to the ball fields
full of water
and the injuries sustained -
scrapes, scratches and bruises,
each with its own story.

3 years it’s been
since we were told,
“It’s a new ballgame now.”
And true enough, that.
We play more.
And the mundane things of life -
a cooler draining -
seem as noteworthy
